A Message from the Developer

As the Principal of the Vistas Developer's, LLC it gives me great satisfaction to bring this magnificent development to the Killington market. I have been a dedicated Killington aficionado since 1982 and I first brought my passion for high end home development to the area with the fabulous Winterberry community on Rt. 4 in Killington.

With The Vistas, our design team has expended tremendous time and effort into designing the finest, ski on / ski off, new home product in Killington to date. The highest of quality custom and energy efficient features have been implemented throughout these homes.

While energy efficiency is certainly a buzz word in this industry today, it is a goal which I am personally committed to.

The following features have been implemented within the homes of The Vistas:

1. The homes at The Vistas will be qualified as Energy Star compliant by the State of Vermont http://www.energystar.gov

2. The "warm" roof will feature R44 dense pack insulation and the walls will feature R-21 high density batts insulation.

3. High efficiency rated heating, air conditioning and domestic hot water systems with programmable controls.

4. Radiant heat is more efficient by heating the structural members of the house as opposed to simply "tossing" heat into the air. Additionally, radiant heat is silent, invisible and significantly more comfortable than all other means of heating.

5. Energy Star rated appliances

6. Pella InsulShield, Argon filled, Low-E insulating glass, high performance windows.

7. High burn efficiency masonry fireplace system by Isokern www.isokern.net

8. Water efficient plumbing fixtures

9. Compact fluorescent light bulbs will be standard in certain lighting fixtures

The common area lighting of the Vistas development will be illuminated by energy efficient LCD bulbs. Even more exciting, is that these lights will be powered by Cow-Power through Central Vermont Public Service. This is an innovative program by where methane gas from cow manure is used to generate electricity.

Not only does this power source reduce dependency on foreign oil and burns cleaner than fossil fuels, it supports local Vermont farmers in the process. Win / win instead of lose / lose. One of my goals with the Vistas is to see the whole sub-division running on Vermont generated Cow-Power electricity. Having been encouraged by my work with the Vistas project, I have switched to using Cow-Power for my own Killington residence and I am now purchasing 100% of the electricity used in my New Jersey home from renewable resource providers. Additionally, I have replaced all light bulbs in my home with compact fluorescents. While these steps which I am taking will not impact the environment with any significance, it is the decision to take action that ultimately will.
